APPRAISAL CLAUSE IN FLORIDA
Florida law requires insurance companies to include an appraisal clause in property insurance policies. Under Florida Statute 627.7015, either party can demand appraisal when there's a dispute over the amount of loss. The process involves each party selecting an appraiser, and the two appraisers selecting an umpire. This is a powerful tool for homeowners and contractors when insurance companies lowball claims.

HOW ADJUSTERS UNDERPAY IN FLORIDA
Insurance adjusters use Xactimate software to create estimates, but they often use tactics that result in underpayment. Here are common issues we see in Florida:
Florida adjusters often use outdated labor rates that don't reflect current market conditions
Hurricane damage is frequently underscoped, missing hidden water damage and structural issues
Tile roof repairs are commonly undervalued compared to actual replacement costs
Code upgrades for hurricane strapping and impact-resistant materials are often omitted
